Rev. Rebecca Kemper Poos began her ministry with us in March, 2009, after having served churches of all shapes and sizes in Vancouver BC and Colorado. She moved to Buena Vista with her husband Clarke and son Rocky (now 23). They enjoy a number of hobbies and passions, all focused on being outdoors. They love nothing more then being in the mountains hiking, snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, kayaking, exploring Colorado history, and riding bicycles, their motorcycle or horses. Rocky particularly enjoys fishing and collecting rocks and other treasures. The family is rounded out by Clarke’s kids in Florida and some delightful dogs, cats and horses.
Rebecca loves ministry of all kinds. She enjoys encouraging people and churches on their spiritual journey, and has a passion for music and inspiring worship, along with community involvement, and caring for one another in God’s name. She invites you to join in our mission to live out Jesus’ commandments to love our neighbor, ourselves, and to feed, clothe and care for all of creation.
Rebecca can be found in the Church Office or out in the community in a number of places. She welcomes getting to know individuals and families, and can be reached anytime on her cell phone at 719-252-6890 or at RevBecca@icloud.com.
Nancy Best – Communications Administrator
Nancy Best believes in the saying, “Not all who wander are lost.” Born in Seattle, she and her family moved often before settling in Indianapolis. After graduating from Wheaton College near Chicago with a teaching degree in physical education, she continued her peripatetic lifestyle. She first served five years as a missionary in the Black Forest of Germany as a dorm assistant in a Canadian boarding school, followed by working as a learning disabilities therapist in Indpls., a nanny in NYC, and spending two winters in St. Thomas, USVI. Stints in retail and restaurant serving in Indpls., Gatlinburg, TN (where she met her musician husband, James Page), and Littleton, NH, came next, and finally she and James made Buena Vista their home in 2008, where they enjoy small town life and friendly people.
Over the years, Nancy has traveled extensively, visiting Japan, Lebanon, and much of the US and Europe. Here in BV, she has worked at the Ark-Valley Humane Society, been a free-lance pet and house sitter, and written for the Chaffee County Times. An inveterate volunteer and loving intellectual stimulation, she volunteers with the Boys and Girls Clubs, serves as president of her home owner’s association, loves to play pickleball and line dance, and has served on the School Board since 2015. You can also spot her around town driving a school bus, so don’t forget to wave!
